Alien Landing?
A spaceship has landed! And it couldn't have found a better spot: by the beach on Sullivans Island, S.C.

Backyard Chickadees
Cute little chickadees frequent my backyard bird feeders. This one stopped by for a bite to eat and a drink of water. I first thought that these are black capped chickadees but then in my bird book there is identified a Carolina chickadee. The black capped ones have more of a white stripe on their wings and are a bit larger.

Birds and Pigs Oh My!
The Dungannon Heritage Preserve in rural Charleston County is such a hidden treasure, especially this time of year when the woodstork rookery is really rockin'. Here are some pix from an outing this week. Surprises also included spotting some wild pigs and turkeys. In one tree an osprey nest is at the very top and below are several woodstork nests with little ones poking out (can be seen with binoculars and/or long camera lens).

Time to Blog!
I've been wanting to start my own blog for a few years now. I've finally found the time and focus to do it! I really enjoy bird, nature and travel photography so I'm excited to have this online outlet. My camera is a Canon PowerShot SX 110. I like the small size, 20x zoom and the larger-than-most viewing screen.
