Summer Saturday in February!

A Saturday outing to Sullivan’s Island turned out to be a very fun day. Winter? Not this day, more like a summer day based on the warm weather and busy beach activities seen in this photo.

It has been a year now since the coronavirus crisis began worldwide. And what a long, stressful year it has been. You can tell in this photograph that people are so ready for things to get back to normal.

There was plenty of activity on the water also. It was a perfect day for sailing and boating.

This barge was being pulled into the harbor by a tugboat.

Here’s a favorite picture (above) from this beach visit, enhanced a bit with the Snapseed processing app.

Again, it was so nice to see people out (and mask-free) enjoying the beach.

Lovely Alesia took a nice selfie.

Another dimension to this beach outing would be...surprise...birds! When we parked I right away spotted the bird atop this structure at historic Fort Moultrie

Using my monopod for stability I zoomed in and got this image.

When it took to flight I could see that this is a Red-tailed Hawk

I continued to track the Hawk as it flew closer to the maritime forest by the beach.

I think, due to his large size, that this is a male Red-tailed Hawk.

Ready for your close up? Here it is.

I saw a few other birds in this seaside setting: a Northern Mockingbird (above) and an American Robin. The collective name for Robins is....yuck...worm.

Our main purpose for this Sullivan’s Island visit was to dine at the fabulous Obstinate Daughter restaurant. The beach visit was a fine prelude to what is always a great foodie experience here.

We really enjoyed this pasta dish- ricotta gnocchi dish with short rib ragu was very tasty!  The pizza here is also very good. Next time!

I enjoyed also the parking privileges from my temporary handicapped parking permit!

As I post this the following weekend from this visit, it is now winter again: freezing temperature Sunday morning. And our fireplace is on again.  Spring officially begins on March 20.
