May 2023 Interview About My "Birds of Magnolia Cemetery" Book

Baltimore Oriole

February 2024 I was excited to capture this beauty "in the wild" and away from the nearby grape jelly feeders.

I am a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville, S.C.

ACE Basin Bald Eagle

I photographed this beautiful symbol of America on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015 while hiking the Hollings National Wildlife Refuge in South Carolina's wonderful ACE Basin

The Eyes Have It!

Stopped to pull over when I saw an Osprey nest atop a powerline pole near Edisto Beach, S.C. (Summer 2016)

Red Bellied Woodpecker

Suet and seeds bring a variety of birds to my backyard feeder, including the Red-Bellied Woodpecker.

Osprey at Magnolia Cemetery

S.C.'s State Library Has My Books!

I'm pleased and honored that the South Carolina State Library in Columbia has on its shelves two of my books: "Stories from the Underground: The Churchyards of Charleston" and "In the Arms of Angels: Magnolia Cemetery- Charleston's Treasure of History, Mystery and Artistry"

Future Birder? Hope So!

In California, my sister-in-law Lynette shows my "Birds of Magnolia Cemetery" to Zane, her and my brother Pete's grandson (December 2013).

Painted Bunting

It has been a thrill this 2012 summer to finally see and photograph this gorgeous local (but rare for most of us) bird!

Eager Egrets: Nature at its Most Natural

There may soon be some more eggs in this Great Egret nest. The more I take pictures, the luckier I can get with unexpected outcomes.

Northern Cardinal

Hundreds of photos I've taken in my backyard of the unmistakable male Cardinal. This new shot is my all-time favorite. Got him munching on a sunflower seed.

Red-bellied Woodpecker

Took this photo in late February 2012 in my backyard. I'm loving my new camera: a Canon SX40. I touched up this photo a bit using a Photoshop black point technique I learned at a recent Carolina Nature Photographers Association meeting.

Nature's Beauty and Brutality

Had an incredible experience watching (and photographing) this Osprey eating a fish. See my Nov. 24, 2010 posting. Also, click on the photo above to see a YouTube video of my Osprey encounter.
