Arc de Triomphe a BIG Surprise!

The first thing that struck me after exiting the underground Paris Metro stop, going up the stairs and first seeing IT was just how big IT is!

The Arc du Triomphe is one colossal and impressive monument.

Nikki Haley Has My Cemetery Book!

In June 2014 Magnolia Cemetery Superintendent Beverly Donald presented then S.C. Governor (and recent U.S. United Nations ambassador) Nikki Haley with a copy of my "In the Arms of Angels" book about Magnolia Cemetery. Beverly was in Columbia to accept an award from the S.C. Historic Preservation organization.

Solar Eclipse

How amazing it was to see and photograph the solar eclipse in all its "totality" on August 21, 2017!

Paris Trip a Blast!

Thanks to Alesia, our whole family spent a week and a half in Paris in June 2017. I did several posts on the different places we visited, from the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, to the Louvre Museum and Versailles Palace.

Preservation Society of Charleston Signing Success!

Had a great time at the Preservation Society of Charleston Book and Gift Shop on June 8, 2014 talking with customers, signing books and hanging with shop staff Sarah, Evan and Josie!

Georgetown Museum Presentation

What a treat is was on July 10, 2014 to speak at the Georgetown County Museum as part of a special county library cemetery series. I'm pictured with library officials, from left, Trudy Bazemore, Patti Burns and Dwight McInvaill. My two Magnolia Cemetery books are now at Georgetown County's libraries!

St. John's Church Presentation

I'm pictured with Sister Carol from my church, St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. I gave a Magnolia Cemetery presentation there on June 26, 2014. I donated my two books to the parish for Summerville Catholic School where my two sons graduated.

Cunnington Descendant Met at Mr. K's!

What a treat to have met Robert Furtwangler and his mother Carol at my Mr. K's book signing on June 28, 2014. Robert is a 7th generation Charlestonian and a descendant of Col. William Cunnington, who had a rice plantation on the land before it became Magnolia Cemetery in 1850. Neat meet, thanks Robert and Carol!

Wild Birds Talk Was Fun!

I had a great time speaking about my bird adventures- and misadventures- on July 19 at Mt. Pleasant's Wild Birds Unlimited. Thanks to store owner Danielle for the opportunity and all the publicity efforts! I took the above photo of a Painted Bunting this week while hiking at the wet and rainy Donnelley WMA in the ACE Basin south of Charleston.

Cemetery Signing Success

My first signing event was a huge success! Thanks to all who turned out on what was a gorgeous afternoon at Magnolia Cemetery! Special thanks to cemetery superintendent Beverly Donald and her staff for all of the help and support.

It has been a thrill this 2012 summer to finally see and photograph this gorgeous local (but rare for most of us) bird!

There may soon be some more eggs in this Great Egret nest. The more I take pictures, the luckier I can get with unexpected outcomes.
