Between playing tennis in the rain for a short time Saturday and today (Labor Day) getting soaked by rain while mowing the lawn, Sunday at Sullivan’s Island had perfect (dry!) weather.
Parking was more difficult than usual but it was worth it to spend three or so hours soaking in the sun, swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, and enjoying the idyllic scenery.
And of course, I took a bunch of photographs. Here’s what was going on at Sullivan’s Island in the Station 17 area.
The Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse, erected in 1962, was especially photogenic on this day. I took photos from several different angles and perspectives.
The man credited with designing the 162-foot black and white beacon passed away recently. There was an article in the post and courier about him.
This lighthouse is 60 years old now. Fun fact: it was originally red in color. I do think I like the current color better.
Some Snowy Egrets were in a rain pond in a resident’s backyard.
It has been a nice Labor Day weekend! Glad on Sunday we got a break from the frequent stormy weather of late.
